Step-by-step methodology to remove malware from your PC – 

Step 1: Look for Signs of Malware

Some malware programs can be particularly difficult to remove from your PC as they can preemptively block any attempt to do so. If your antivirus program or malware removal utilities in Windows, such as Regedit or MSConfig, fail to load, it's a sign that your PC has been affected by a malignant virus. There are some clear signs that you can check for to identify a virus infestation in your PC. If an unknown program suddenly appears, displaying ominous warnings and asking you to take certain actions such as running an executable file, your PC has been infected with some malicious malware. It is strongly recommended that you never reveal your credit card information or any other personal data to any suspicious program or website. All such instances indicate that there is a malicious program attempting to coerce you into giving up your private information by issuing warnings of imminent hard drive failure or viral infection.

Step 2: Enter Safe Mode

If you suspect that your computer might have a virus, it's a good idea to start in Safe Mode. This mode starts your computer with only the essential programs and services, which helps prevent any malicious software from running and causing further damage. 

If you have a Windows 7 or 8 computer, you can enter Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key when you turn on your computer. If you have a Windows 10 computer, it's a bit more complicated. You'll need to click on the Start Button and select the Power button while holding down the Shift key. Then, choose the option to Restart your computer. You'll see a full-screen menu where you'll need to select Troubleshooting, followed by Advanced Options and Startup Settings. Click on the Restart button, and you'll see a menu with several numbered startup options. Choose number 4, which is Safe Mode. 

In Safe Mode, your computer will only run the necessary programs and services, which can help you find and remove any viruses or malware that may be on your computer.

Step 3: Delete Temporary Files

Once you have booted your computer in Safe Mode, you may notice that it runs faster. To ensure your computer is safe from viruses, it is recommended that you perform a virus scan. However, before doing so, it is a good idea to delete any temporary files that take up space on your computer. This will help speed up the virus scan and remove any malware that may be hiding on your computer. 

If you are using Windows 10, you can easily find the Disk Cleanup tool by typing "Disk Cleanup" in the search bar, or by clicking on the Start button and selecting the tool named Disk Cleanup from the menu. This tool will assist you in deleting unnecessary temporary files. 

For Windows 7 users, you can access the Disk Cleanup tool by clicking on the Start button, selecting All Programs, then Accessories, System Tools, and finally Disk Cleanup.

Step 4: Download Malware Scanners

It is recommended to run a malware scanner on your computer to remove the most common malware programs. There are two types of antivirus programs available: real-time programs that monitor your computer continuously in the background for any malware threats, and on-demand scan programs that search for malware infections when you manually open and run them. Ideally, you should install a real-time antivirus program and multiple on-demand scanners to run scans. However, if your PC is already infected with malware, it's better to use an on-demand scanner first, followed by a full scan by a real-time antivirus program. Some popular on-demand scanners include BitDefender Free Edition, Malwarebytes, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool, SuperAntiSpyware, and Avast.
